How the Equities in our Portfolio are Synergistic to help the Environment
Market Environmentalism - needs to make sense financially, economically and environmentally - we present a confluence of operational cost savings, carbon emissions reduction, AI, and energy
We recently wrote:
We present some of the equities in our portfolio below and how they are synergistic in working together to add value to each other. This is a strength in our portfolio of equities of great businesses helping society and the environment, and targeting outperforming portfolio returns all at the same time.
Our approach to environmentalism is based on the four principles of Market Environmentalism, which in turn are based on the principles of a unique school of thought known as the Austrian School of Economics. We also discuss this approach and the principles in detail in our About Us page. We strongly feel this approach, which we quantify through metrics with studies indicating correlation to equity outperformance, gives us a probability-based edge toward targeting portfolio outperformance while also helping society and the environment all at the same time.
Process Steps from our Posting
For Step 1 in our posting on “Using AI technologies in Market Environmentalism”, a choice can be made amongst several industry-leading AI tools in the space of business process mining and discovery.
For Step 2 in our posting, the idea is to develop an emissions chart of level of emissions (either on a real-time basis or through energy-usage billing etc). For this, ABB is a company in our portfolio which provides great leadership:
We see this link on ABB on their products and services in this regard.
For Step 3 in our posting, this is more of an exercise in business process optimization as part of consulting services. Our firm can provide these services through a professional consulting services project if interested.
For Step 4 in our posting, the solutions can be provided for from other companies in our portfolio. For examples in the energy sector:
We have SLB (Schlumberger) in our portfolio. They offer a wide array of energy development and operational services and also have a New Energy business unit focusing on renewable energy. SLB and NVIDIA are partnering to develop and provide generative AI-based solutions which can be part of our Step 4.
We also have several equities of companies in the energy sector in the portfolio, many of these are paying what we assess as great dividends, but also many of them are developing more efficient energy generation and distribution or various innovative renewable or low-carbon energy systems. Some of our companies in our portfolio here include CEMIG, Shell, Linde and Ecopetrol.
Circular Sustainability
The circular economy is a system where materials never become waste and nature is regenerated. In a circular economy, products and materials are kept in circulation through processes like maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, recycling, and composting. - source link
We integrate the concept of Circular Sustainability in our portfolio. As an example of this, continuing on the example with ABB and SLB:
Energy companies in the portfolio that can develop or provide natural gas at least initially before future nuclear energy power can be leveraged as the nuclear reactors development and implementation will take a few years of time.
Technology companies in the portfolio that can enhance efficiencies in the energy companies, with some of these solutions being generative AI based.
Technology companies that can provide generative AI solutions towards reducing operating costs and reducing carbon emissions at the same time.
Energy companies in turn providing the energy requirements of the energy-intensive generative AI applications of these technology companies.
